Topic: Working with words. Motivation at work
Aim: to develop learners’ reading, listening, vocabulary and speaking skills through the topic of motivation at work.
Methodical recommendations:
- Encourage interaction and personal opinion sharing.
- Pre-teach key vocabulary before reading/listening.
- Use pair and group work for discussion tasks.
- Monitor and give feedback on vocabulary usage.
Procedure:
1.Have you ever worked for no money? What was your motivation?
2. Read the short article and be ready with the Tasks 2 and 3 on page 12.
3. Look at the words in bold in the article. Match each word in 1-5 to the correct definition, a or b (Ex. 4, p. 13).
4. Listen to three people talking about their jobs and answer questions 1- 3 (Ex. 6, p.

5. Be ready with the Task 7 on page 13.
Materials required for сompleting the tasks
Form of presenting results on performed activities: written tasks are delivered by electronic files for further assessment.
Assessment criteria: 5 points
5 points – all written tasks are performed correctly, minor spelling mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
4 points – 80 – 90 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 20 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
3 points – 50 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 30 – 40 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
2 points – 30 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 50 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
1 point – 10 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 60 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
