Topic: Language at work. Question forms
Aim: to develop learners’ ability to form and use different types of questions in a workplace context. Students will practice asking clear and appropriate questions for professional communication.
Methodical recommendations:
- Revise basic question forms (yes/no questions, wh-questions) before practice.
- Encourage students to work in pairs to create and ask questions in realistic work situations.
- Monitor students’ speech and provide feedback on word order and intonation in questions.
- Use examples from real-life workplace communication to increase relevance.
Procedure:
1.Be ready with the assignments 1, 2, 3 on page 16.
2. Think of two questions to ask in the following situations (Ex. 4, p. 16).
Materials required for сompleting the tasks
Form of presenting results on performed activities: written tasks are delivered by electronic files for further assessment.
Assessment criteria: 5 points
5 points – all written tasks are performed correctly, minor spelling mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
4 points – 80 – 90 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 20 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
3 points – 50 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 30 – 40 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
2 points – 30 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 50 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
1 point – 10 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 60 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
