Practical class № 8. Working with words. Ideas and innovations
Topic: Working with words. Ideas and innovations
Aim: to expand students’ vocabulary related to ideas, innovation, and sustainable projects; to develop reading and listening comprehension skills using authentic materials; to practise the use of adjective-noun collocations in context; to improve students’ speaking and writing skills through sentence creation.
Methodical recommendations:
- Encourage students to predict the content of the text and the listening task based on the topic and key vocabulary.
- While listening, advise students to focus on specific details related to the projects rather than on understanding every word.
- Use matching tasks to help students recognise and memorise common adjective–noun collocations.
- Ask students to create their own sentences using the new phrases to ensure active vocabulary acquisition.
Procedure:
1. Read the text and answer two questions (Ex. 2, p. 26).
2. Listen to details of two projects that have won an Ashden Award (Ex. 3, 26).
