Topic: Language at work. Talking about the future
Aim: to develop students’ ability to use future forms in professional communication (plans, predictions, arrangements, deadlines).
Methodical Recommendations:
- Revise future forms (will, going to, Present Continuous, Present Simple).
- Use workplace situations (meetings, projects, schedules).
- Practise in pairs/groups (discussions, mini-meetings, role-plays).
- Teach useful business phrases for plans and predictions.
- Include speaking and short writing tasks (emails, project plans).
- Provide feedback on correct use of future structures.
Procedure:
Be ready with the Tasks 1-4 on page 36.
Materials required for сompleting the tasks
Form of presenting results on performed activities: written tasks are delivered by electronic files for further assessment.
Assessment criteria: 5 points
5 points – all written tasks are performed correctly, minor spelling mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
4 points – 80 – 90 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 20 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
3 points – 50 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 30 – 40 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
2 points – 30 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 50 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
1 point – 10 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 60 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
