Topic: Working woth words. Ethical business
Aim: to expand students’ vocabulary related to ethical business practices and corporate responsibility; to develop students’ ability to understand and use ethical business terminology in professional contexts; to improve reading and speaking skills through discussion of ethical issues at work; to encourage critical thinking and awareness of ethical standards in business.
Methodical recommendations:
- Introduce the topic by eliciting students’ opinions on ethical behaviour in business.
- Encourage students to infer the meaning of new vocabulary from context before using dictionaries.
- Use real-life or case-based examples to illustrate ethical dilemmas in the workplace.
- Promote pair and group work to stimulate discussion and active use of new vocabulary.
Procedure:
1.Be ready with the assignments 1, 2, 3, 4 on pages 32-33.
2. Listen to a radio presenter and complete the tasks 6, 7, 8, 9 on page 33.

Materials required for сompleting the tasks
Form of presenting results on performed activities: written tasks are delivered by electronic files for further assessment.
Assessment criteria: 5 points
5 points – all written tasks are performed correctly, minor spelling mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
4 points – 80 – 90 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 20 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
3 points – 50 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 30 – 40 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
2 points – 30 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 50 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
1 point – 10 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 60 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
