Practical class № 5. OMG! Where is my passport?
Topic: Grammar: Past Simple: regular and irregular verbs. Vocabulary: holidays. Pronounciation: regular verbs: -ed endings
Aim:
To develop students’ ability to use the Past Simple tense with both regular and irregular verbs in oral and written communication; to expand vocabulary related to holidays; to practice correct pronunciation of -ed endings.
Methods:
- Presentation and explanation of Past Simple rules for regular and irregular verbs.
- Guided practice through gap-fill, matching, and sentence-building tasks.
- Vocabulary exercises describing holidays and past experiences.
- Pair and group work to practice dialogues and storytelling in the Past Simple.
- Pronunciation drills focusing on the three -ed endings (/t/, /d/, /ɪd/).
- Communicative activities and role-plays to consolidate grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
Procedure:
Task 1. Be ready with the Grammar tasks (a, b, c, d).
Task 2. Do the Pronounciation tasks (a, b).
Task 3. Do the Vocabulary assignments (a, b, c, d).
Materials required for сompleting the tasks
Form of presenting results on performed activities: written tasks are delivered by electronic files for further assessment.
Assessment criteria: 5 points
5 points – all written tasks are performed correctly, minor spelling mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
4 points – 80 – 90 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 20 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
3 points – 50 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 30 – 40 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
2 points – 30 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 50 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
1 point – 10 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 60 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
