Topic: Writing an informal email.
Aim: To develop students' ability to write informal emails by teaching common opening and closing phrases, practicing the use of contractions and postscripts, and improving reading comprehension for specific travel-related information.
Methods:

Reading comprehension task: Students read a model email to identify key logistical details such as travel arrangements and arrival times.

Vocabulary analysis and application: Completing a text with informal phrases (e.g., "Best wishes," "Hi," "Looking forward to hearing from you") to understand the correct tone and structure of personal correspondence.

Discussion of conventions: Identifying the meaning of informal abbreviations like "PS" and the appropriate use of contractions in casual writing. -
Structured writing practice: Planning and drafting a three-paragraph reply using specific prompts and flight data provided in a guided template. -
Self-correction and editing: Reviewing the final written output for accuracy in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Materials required for completing the tasks
Form of presenting results on performed activities: written tasks are delivered by electronic files for further assessment.
Assessment criteria: 5 points
5 points – all written tasks are performed correctly, minor spelling mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
4 points – 80 – 90 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 20 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
3 points – 50 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 30 – 40 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
2 points – 30 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 50 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
1 point – 10 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 60 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
