a method of capturing the earth's surface or other objects, which is based on measurements of stereo pairs of photographs of these objects. It became the most widespread in topographic surveying (aerial phototopographic and ground phototopographic surveying). It is also used to determine deformations of buildings, study of architectural monuments, road accidents, erosion of banks, ravines, movement of glaciers, etc.
