Methodical recommendations for the using the e-learn platform
Methodical recommendations for working with the course e-learn platform (ENC) in the course "Constructing Machines" is designed to train bachelors in the specialty Civil engineering.
The curriculum provides for 30 hours of lectures, 30 hours of laboratory work, and 30 hours of independent work. Total 90 hours (3 ECTS credits). Knowledge control is the test.
The advantage of ENC is the presentation of educational material on the discipline in a didactically unified and formalized form and giving students the opportunity to use it anywhere and at any time, regardless of the form of student learning. Work in ENC is organized on the training and information portal at: https://elearn.nubip.edu.ua/course/view.php?id=3462
With this system, the student can remotely, via the Internet, open an e-learning course, get acquainted with its structure with educational material, which is presented in the form of various information resources (text, video, presentation, electronic manual), complete tasks and send it for review, pass electronic testing.
ENC "Constructing Machines" consists of the following structural elements:
Course business card (course description), which provides brief information about the e-course: specialty, educational degree, semester, number of ECTS credits, course authors, department, short annotation and level of access to the course. The card is the only part of the e-course, access to which is unlimited. All other components are available only to students registered for the course.
General information about the course:
Program. The program indicates the purpose and objectives of the course, the prerequisites for studying the course (knowledge that the student must have before studying the course), its content, which displays the names of the topics of each module with annotations. It is also noted that the student will know and be able to after the course.
Description and structure. Displays the number of hours for studying each module, a table with a logical sequence of lectures and laboratory classes, as well as students completing tasks for independent work.
Evaluation scales and policies. Contains information on the system of assessment of students' academic achievements in the discipline, both current and final. From each module the distribution of points for performance of tasks and an estimation scale is specified. Assessment for each module takes into account three components: the assimilation of theoretical material, the ability to apply the acquired knowledge and the success of the tasks submitted for self-study.
Handbooks and educational resources. This resource provides the main, additional printed sources on the discipline and Internet resources.
Glossary. Contains the main terms of the course and their meaning.
The total number of modules in the study of the discipline is 2 modules.
The content of each content module includes the following materials:
Theoretical educational material. Contains mandatory learning resources: 1) structured electronic materials, the content of which reflects the logic of learning the course and provides the student with theoretical information from the module in full; 2) multimedia presentations of lectures, 3) additional electronic educational materials: electronic lecture notes; video materials; reference and regulatory documents.
Laboratory work. The course materials reflect the list of laboratory works in the form of separate resources. For each work the purpose and tasks which provide formation of abilities and skills necessary for mastering of a theme are defined, methodical recommendations on their performance, the form of representation of results of the executed work, criteria of an estimation of each work, the list of tasks which should be executed by students are given. Laboratory work, which requires special equipment and real objects, is performed in the classroom, as indicated in the formulation of the task. Educational and methodical materials from laboratory works are attached in files of various formats and tasks. The work is evaluated by the presence of the completed task in the notebook for laboratory work, writing a test and demonstration of practical skills. Written and oral answers to questions for laboratory work. After checking and evaluating the completed tasks, the points are placed in the evaluation journal.
Tasks for self-preparation work. Additional theoretical material is placed in the ENC. Educational and methodical materials on independent works are attached in files of various formats and tasks. The result of independent work students send in electronic form to the educational portal. After checking and evaluating, the points are recorded in the relevant training activities with a brief explanation of the nature of the mistakes made and the points taken for it. Grades are automatically transferred to the rating log.
Modular control. Individual tasks, tests and questionnaires are used to assess the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during the study of each module of the course. Each module contains a training test for self-control, control questions and a control test. The results of the assessment of each student's academic achievements are automatically entered in the electronic journal after testing.
In case of passing classes for good reasons, the student has the right to work them on the schedule of consultations. Classes can be held within 2 weeks (14 calendar days), starting from the moment when the student has to start classes again (the validity of the relevant valid reason has ended), but not later than the day of the beginning of the credit week in the relevant semester. The order of working off the missed classes is determined by the teacher.
Students who study according to an individual schedule agreed with the dean's office and the teacher, independently work out the topics of practical and independent tasks. Students send the results in electronic form to the educational portal. After checking and evaluating, the points are recorded in the relevant training activities with a brief explanation of the nature of the mistakes made and the points taken for it. Grades are automatically transferred to the rating log.
Final test - control questions, training test and final test are given. Students consistently study, study theoretical educational material and perform laboratory work in accordance with the structure of each content module and tasks. After studying and processing each content module, students pass a test module control. After completing the two content modules, students undergo a final test of knowledge. The student receives a random ticket for a written assignment and an interview from the teacher during the exam.
