Topic: Skills: Presenting your company

Aim: Students look at some advice for making presentations, listen to a presentation about a fashion company and do some practical assignments.

Меthods: Before listening read the two questions and make sure you understand them. Then read the text and try to predict what words might fill the gaps. Make notes, but not write out everything you are going to say.

Procedure:

Task A. Answer the following questions in writing.

What sort of presentation have you given? How did you feel?

Task B. Listen to the beginning of a presentation by Robert Pullin, Director of Human Resources at DCV Fashions, and anwer these questions.

1. What is the main aim of the presenter?

2. What kind of audience is he probably addressing?

Task C. Listen again and complete this paragraph.

_________ (1), I'll give you some basic information about DCV Fashions. _________ (2), I'll explain why we've been so successful in the fashion industry. _________ (3), I'll tell you about our mission statement. Task E. Complete the beginning of this presentation. Choose the correct option.

Task F. A company boss is presenting his company to potential investors. The presenter does not follow the usual tips for presentations and irritates the investors. Match the tips (1-6) that the presenter does not follow with the audience's reactions (a-f)

Form of presenting results on performed activities: written tasks are delivered by electronic files for further assessment.

Assessment criteria: 5 points

5 points – all written tasks are performed correctly, minor spelling mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.

4 points – 80 – 90 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 20 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.

3 points – 50 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 30 – 40 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.

2 points – 30 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 50 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.

1 point – 10 percent of written tasks are performed correctly, 60 percent of spelling and grammar mistakes are allowed, a student actively fulfills tasks in the class.
